Come 2015, students at the Culinary Institute of America won’t have to travel far to step inside the Brooklyn Brewery. Our neighborhood beer makers will be opening a seven-barrel brewing system in the prestigious culinary school’s new student union, currently under construction. According to a release from the CIA, the operations of the brewery will be integrated into the curriculum for students (21 and older) with a concentration in Advanced Wine, Beverage and Hospitality.
Brewmaster Garrett Oliver and other members of the Brooklyn Brewery team plan to make regular trips to the Hyde Park campus to help develop the course and recipes. The CIA will also work together with the brains at Brooklyn Brewery to serve its own signature lager, pilsner and seasonal beers on tap and in on-campus restaurants.

“We have great respect for The Culinary Institute of America, its leaders, and its illustrious alumni,” says Brooklyn Brewery Co-founder and Chairman Steve Hindy. “Smart and creative CIA-trained chefs and foodservice executives are all over the world today. Brooklyn Brewery has worked with the college for more than two decades on beer and food promotions, and special dinners. We are pleased to be able to make this gift to the CIA campus, and look forward to helping further develop beer education at Hyde Park.”
