Update: Crain’s (who posted the original piece) updated their story with the following:
Clarification: Vice is interested in the Beacon’s space on North 11th Street but has no concrete plans to lease there. That fact was misstated in an earlier version of this article, published Sept. 3, 2013.
Due to high rent and Vice Magazine’s expansion, Beacon’s Closet will leave its spot on North 11th St. From The Real Deal:
The retailer’s exit from 88 North 11th Street will allow next-door neighbor Vice magazine to expand its headquarters. The high rents through Williamsburg have led Beacon’s Closet to look elsewhere. Neil Dolgin, co-president of Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates, told Crain’s that rents on Williamsburg’s side streets are approaching $60 per square foot — a six-fold increase from 10 years ago.
Their new location will be at 74 Guernsey Street.
