Yup, you read that right. According to Bushwick Daily, the rentals in this “hip” building pay homage to British graffiti legend Banksy. But, why? To hike up rent prices, probably. But what value does ingenuine Banksy art plastered randomly around the units add to them anyway?
This was the idea of, what we can only assume, a group of out-of-touch white people who have no knowledge of or emotional ties to the community of Bushwick at all. We wonder if Banksy knows that some random building in Brooklyn is using his art to sell rental units to (probably) Instagram tastemakers—who push their shitty Etsy pages— and their startup bro boyfriends.
The building has seven units (3 available rentals listed on Street Easy currently) which run from 2,000 to 2,400 a month.
Are we shocked about this? We don’t know whether or not we’re supposed to be at this point. The Banksy-themed apartment building is located at 1207 Broadway.
