For the 50th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death, August 5, NBC News has released old interviews with the iconic movie star. In this interview, she proclaims her love for our fab ‘burb:
When I retire, I want to retire to Brooklyn…it’s my favorite place in the world so far that I’ve seen. I haven’t traveled much, but I don’t think I’ll find anything else to replace Brooklyn. I just like walking around. I think the view is better from Brooklyn, you know, you can look back over and see Manhattan. That’s the best view…It’s the people…I like the streets, just the people and the streets and the atmosphere, I just like it.”
So do we, Marilyn!

Republican state Assembly hopeful Russell Gallo is trying to get soapbox time on a nationwide controversy by inviting Chick-Fil-A to Brooklyn. Gallo, who’s running in the 45th AD against Democratic incumbent Steven Cymbrowitz, sent a letter to Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy inviting the fast food business to Brooklyn.”
We know, this Chick-Fil-A issue has been flooding your Facebook and Twitter newsfeeds for what feels like decades, but this warrants a post – whatever you believe, this is a pretty ballsy move for a hopeful politician to win over voters. You can read his letter to Cathy in its entirety below:
This week’s edition of the Most Blogged About Shows is 100% recession proof. Our MOST BLOGGED ABOUT show and my EDITOR’S PICK can both be had for the princely sum of “on the house,” and they’re both all kinds of awesome. Oh, and we’re giving away some pretty awesome tickets this week as well.
That being said; the recession is something that’s always on my mind, especially heading into this November’s presidential election. It’s fitting then, that this week’s MOST BLOGGED ABOUT SHOW is Colbchella, Stephen Colbert’s FREE festival at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. I can’t think of any better backdrop for a Colbert festival than a museum on a pier with battleships and fighter jets, and the lineup is similarly incredible; Flaming Lips, Grizzly Bear, Santigold, Grandmaster Flash and fun. This thing gets kicked off on Saturday at 3 PM.

legendary electronic artist the Orb has teamed with iconic reggae and dub master Lee Scratch Perry to produce the full-length album The Observer in the Star House releasing 3 September via Cooking Vinyl. The tune “Golden Clouds” is a reworking of the classic Orb tune “Little Fluffy Clouds”, which keeps the ethereal waves of synths, but ups the dub and adds vocals by Perry. On 30 July, “Golden Clouds” released as a digital single with remixes and appears today on Beatport. The 81Neutronz remix that we premiere today builds the song out with layers of dubstep beats. The remixes are thoroughly compelling, building on the majesty of the original song “Little Fluffy Clouds” and adding new dimensions and elements. The video for the single is below the jump.
