2011 Northside Picks: Art

Bushwick can’t have all the fun.  Luckily, Northside Open Studios joins the 2011 Northside Festival to showcase over 150 artists throughout Williamsburg and Greenpoint.

See Saw
The Gutter, 200 N. 14th St
June 16, 7pm to 12am
Sarah Lutkenhaus and Christine Garvey present a set of collaborative drawings resulting from a call and response method; of creating a beginning and allowing another to find the end. The result is a new drawing that captures the tension between what we see and what was seen.

Ugly Art Room Presents: Noise Jam
The Gutter, 200 N. 14th St

Rock bands contribute cell phone shots of performances, backstage and road shots that are then printed and displayed to depict how “the rise of the virtual” perpetuates experiential alienation.

Hyperallergic: Mail Art Show

Collected works from messages in bottles to typewritten letters “emphasizing the tangible communication from one individual to another.”
